This waivers development fuels speculation that he could be on the move again.
On Friday, the Toronto Maple Leafs have placed goalie Cayden Primeau on waivers.
The move was somewhat expected, seeing that goaltender Joseph Woll has rejoined that Maple Leafs and will now join the Toronto Marlies this weekend on a conditioning stint after returning for his leave of absence.
Speaking publicly for the first time since departing on Friday, Woll expressed gratitude for the support he received during his absence.
Woll is expected to make his first start for the Marlies tomorrow night in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
As for Primeau, he first came to Toronto as a waiver claim a month ago, when he was placed on the waiver wire by the Carolina Hurricanes.
He has since had three starts with the Maple Leafs, posting a 2-1-0 record, a 4.30 goals against average and a 0.838 save percentage.
Across seven NHL seasons, Primeau has appeared in 58 games, posting a record of 15-25-7, with a 3.73 GAA, a .882 SV% and two shutouts.
With the scarce market for goaltending depth in the NHL at this time, Primeau could be claimed off waivers by a rival team. If not, he will be assigned to the Marlies in the AHL at the deadline tomorrow.
