The Vegas Golden Knights continue to be in the midst of their rowdy Stanley Cup celebration after putting the finishing touches on their first ever title earlier this month, a dominating four games to one win over the Florida Panthers.

But it's the reality of living in the salary cap era that brings about the fact that not everyone who contributed to the Cup victory will be able to return next season for Vegas. With that being said, it looks as though the Golden Knights are about to lose a key contributor to their win on the free agent market.

Forward Ivan Barbashev, who was acquired by Vegas at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline from the St. Louis Blues, appears ready to hit free agency.

Per NHL Insider Kevin Weekes:

"I’m told no active talks at the moment between F Barbashev and @GoldenKnights. As of now it’s looking like he’ll be hitting the Free Agent Market- where he’ll have plenty of lucrative offers"

Barbashev scored seven goals with 11 assists for Vegas in their championship run in 22 postseason games. A veteran of 433 career NHL games, he's racked up 84 goals with 110 assists. He's coming off a two year deal that saw him earn an AAV of $2,250,000.
