Golden Knights lose two players between Game 2 and Game 3.
Golden Knights are down two veteran players heading into a must-win Game 3 against the Oilers.
The Vegas Golden Knights will be coming into a must-win Game 3 on Saturday night with a significant disadvantage when it comes to their roster.
On Saturday, Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy officially confirmed that the Golden Knights would be missing both veteran forward Brandon Saad and veteran defenseman Brayden McNabb for Game 3 where they will look to avoid giving the Edmonton Oilers a stranglehold on their second round series in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs. Based on comments made by Cassidy on Sunday it sounds like McNabb is doing relatively well and has traveled with the team, while Saad is currently listed as day to day with an injury of his own.
McNabb was of course injured on a highly controversial play when he was tripped up by Viktor Arvidsson, causing him to crash violently into the boards. McNabb, who does not have a reputation for embellishment, was very slow to get up after the play which was a very early sign that not everything was right with the Golden Knights blue liner following that incident.
McNabb went head and shoulder first into the boards, so you definitely can't blame him for struggling to get back to his feet given just how bad it looked. Here is a look at the incident in slow motion:
It is a tough break for the Golden Knights, one that may very well have come at the worst possible time with the team desperately needing a win to remain in this series.
There is a silver lining however and that is that the Oilers are arguably dealing with an even more significant injury of their own headed into Game 3.
