Golden Knights offer more details on Fleury’s expected long absence

It has been a worrisome week for fans of the Vegas Golden Knights. More than that: for fans for netminder Marc-Andre Fleury: the guy is loved across the league.

On Tuesday, the Golden Knights had to make urgent changes to their lineup ahead of Wednesday’s contest against the Predators in Nashville. The team made an emergency recall of goalie Garret Sparks seeing that Fleury is away from the team for personal reasons.

On Wednesday morning, we found out that Fleury had returned to Montreal because of an illness in his family, as confirmed by team insider David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Schoen had more for us on Thursday when he met with head coach Gerard Gallant. The bench boss confirmed that Fleury is in Montreal because of a “serious illness” in his family and there’s “no timeline” for his return.

He is expected to be miss Friday’s action against the visiting Arizona Coyotes and could miss the upcoming road trip as the Knights will travel to New York that night for a four-game trip.

We have been so worried about what’s going on in Fleury’s world. He celebrated his 35th birthday on Thursday, when coach Gallant offered this new update, and we can only wish him all the best.
