Golden Knights set shocking record with last night’s win!

There is no doubt about it: the Vegas Golden Knights have been a force to be reckoned with ever since they stepped into the National Hockey League in 2017 and have been strong contenders.

However, we were stunned to see the latest record they managed to add to their already impressive history. With last night’s 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars in the second game of the Western Conference finals, the Golden Knights already have more postseason victories than four teams in the league that have been around for at least 20 years!

Now that’s a great record for the Vegas, but also quite embarrassing for the Winnipeg Jets (Atlanta Thrashers), Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers and Minnesota Wild…

These four clubs were involved in this year’s Return to play tournament, but the Golden Knights are the only ones still alive. They could be making their way to their second Stanley Cup final if they manage to eliminate the Stars in this round, and that would be their second trip to the big dance in two years. Back in 2018 in their inaugural season, the Golden Knights fell to Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

The Jets have managed to clinch a playoff spot in three straight seasons, but that’s not enough. They lost to Vegas in the Western Conference Final in 2018. The Blue Jackets have qualified in four straight postseason, but were ousted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round this year, after clinching a spot by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs in the qualifying round. As for the Panthers, they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals back in 1996, and Minnesota has played in the postseason in seven of the last eight years, but never posted enough wins to compete with Vegas’ new record.

The Golden Knights have only played in 44 total playoff games, but look at them go!

Will they add one more tomorrow night? The next franchise in line is the Arizona Coyotes ahead at 45 wins. While it won’t be in jeopardy this postseason, the Golden Knights could pass that number without any issue next summer.
