Like Hockeyfeed reported yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers were in discussions for a real hockey trade.

It was announced a couple of minutes ago that Zack Kassian has been traded to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange of goaltender Ben Scrivens.

General manager from both teams, Marc Bergevin for Montreal and Pete Chiarelli from Edmonton are both addressing needs in their lineup. The Canadiens were in dying need of some sort of spark to get back into the win column and some decent goaltending, while the Oilers are adding a right handed forward with size and grit.

Zack Kassian did not play a single game this year, he broke his foot in a car accident, back in September, when he was a passenger in his own pick-up truck. He entered the NHL's Substance abuse and behavioural health program just days later.

More details to come.
