Whatever works, I guess!

Let’s say you’re a pro hockey player in the NHL with millions of dollars and the latest and greatest in terms of dietary supplements and nutrition. What’s your go-to workout supplement for recovery? Organic whey protein? Wheat grass smoothie? Free-range, grain-fed chicken? All pretty good choices…but if you’re Minnesota Wild star Zach Parise, chances are you’re reaching for a tall glass of chocolate milk.

Paris has recently partnered with other pro athletes in an ad campaign dubbed “Built with Chocolate Milk”. While he’s a spokesman, Parise maintains that he’s been a fan of chocolate milk as a recovery drink since his days of playing college hockey for Boston University. “In high school, I had my official visit to Boston University in the summer of my junior year. I was starting to train more. The draft was coming up – the combine. Supplements were coming out. I was more exposed to them. I was told that chocolate milk was the best for their players to recover after training for the next day,” he said about his experience. “I liked it any way, so it was just a bonus.”

He’s been hooked ever since…no word yet on what his policy is regarding chocolate chip cookies, though.
