In case you missed it, the Minnesota Wild traded forward Mikael Granlund to the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Kevin Fiala earlier today.
The 26 year old Granlund has 15 goals and 49 points in 63 games this season and is the in second year of a three year contract that pays him $5.75 million per season.
For any player, getting traded is a stressful event. Throw family and children into the mix and things get not only stressful, but complicated and emotional as well. Throw a pregnancy into the mix and things get downright silly…
Such was the case for Granlund today as Michael Russo of The Athletic reports that Granlund was traded while his wife was in labor with the couple’s first child when he learned of the news.
Wow… that’s CRAZY! All the best to Mikael and his young family as they go through a HUGE life change both on and off the ice.
