Habs GM gives surprising response to rumors his coach won't be fired.

There was a shocking report earlier today about the future of Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien.

It was reported that Therrien would be staying on as the Canadiens head coach not only for the remainder of this current season, but also as they head coach for the Habs upcoming season in 2016-2017 as well, something that given the absolute collapse of the Canadiens this season came as a major shock to many. However given the source of the information, TVA's Renaud Lavoie, there was no doubting the credibility of that report.

Now Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin has responded, and the public's response to the news may have played a role in the comments he decided to make today because he would in no way commit to the fact that Therrien would be coaching the Canadiens next season. According to a report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman after first telling reporters that he would not discuss the report, Bergevin then told the media that they "shouldn't believe" everything that they hear reported.

Certainly doesn't sound like Therrien's job is guaranteed.
