The Montreal Canadiens will see their longest running iron-man streak come to an end on Tuesday night.

RDS insider Chantal Machabee is reporting that veteran forward Tomas Plekanec has officially been ruled out of tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks as the result of an upper-body injury.

It ends a streak of 236 consecutive appearances for Plekanec who despite being the subject of trade rumors several times over the past two seasons has continued to play through minor bumps and bruises night in and night out.

The announcement does not come as a shock as both Plekanec and fellow Habs forward Alexander Radulov were absent from today's skate and were expected to miss the game as a result. Nonetheless it has to be a disappointment for Plekanec at least on an individual level as his streak stretched over parts of four different NHL seasons.
