A very calculated risk for the Habs.

Alexander Radulov announced his signature in Dallas today and it is the obvious news of the day in Montreal. Radulov was beloved by the fans and many see his departure as a big step back in the progress toward the Stanley Cup. However, life goes on and a team still has to be fielded this season.

The Montreal Canadiens announced the signature of veteran right winger Ales Hemsky to a one year, 1M$ deal.

Hemsky was under a 3 years, 12M$ contract in Dallas where he spent a good part of the last season benched with a hip injury. A former 70-points-a-year type of forward, he's now producing roughly 35 points a year. He's a pretty crafty forward, but his age and injuries slowed him down consirably.

At 1M$ for one year, it's a very small risk for a potential interesting reward for the Habs.

Welcome to Montreal, Ales!
