Ouch. A tough pill to swallow for a team that’s really struggling.

This just in courtesy of Montreal Canadiens insider Eric Engels of The Athletic, Habs forward Brendan Gallagher will be out of the team’s lineup indefinitely with a concussion.

Check it out:

Suffice it to say that this is a HUGE blow to a Habs squad that has struggled mightily the past month. The team is riding a three game losing streak and are just 5-5-0 in their past 10 games. They’re currently seven points out of a Wild Card playoff spot.

As for Gallagher, he was on his way to establishing a career high in points this season with an outstanding 32 points through 40 games. He managed 33 goals and 52 points in 82 games last season.

Ask any Habs fan who the heart and soul of the team is and you’re bound to get only one answer: Gallagher. Point production aside, this is a HUGE blow for a team who relies on Gallagher to produce and player a vital leadership role.

There is currently no timetable for Gallagher return to the lineup. The native of Tsawwassen, British Columbia has played his entire NHL career with the Habs and has put up 166 goals and 323 points in 528 games.
