Capitals D-man had surgery.
Washington Capitals's hard hitting defenseman Brooks Orpik had surgery on his wrist on Tuesday, reports NHL.com.
according to team's officials, Orpik will be ready to resume all team activities in two weeks.
"Based on the nature of this procedure, we anticipate Brooks returning to full hockey activities in time for the Capitals' regular-season opener. Brooks will resume full workout activities in approximately two weeks."
The Capitals made Orpik's acquisition through free agency in the summer of 2014. Last season he played 78 games recording 19 assists. He helped the Capitals to reach the playoffs by solidifying their defensive-core.
Although he did not collected many points, Orpik's presence makes a difference with his stellar defensive play and his thunderous hits.
