It appears one of the NHL's most hated players is almost certain he will hang up his skates.
Chicago Blackhawks' tough guy Daniel Carcillo spoke CSN Chicago's Kap & Haugh show on Wednesday and expressed that he is ready to give up the game and focus on other things.
"I'm about 98 percent ready to move on," he said. "Thirty is a good age for me to get out and do some other things."
Carcillo began his career as a 2003 draft pick and is a veteran of 429 career NHL contests and most recently played with the Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks. He was however limited to 39 games as a result of a concussion.
An always polarizing figure on the ice, Carcillo is known for his ability to get under an opponents skin. He has been criticized as being a "dirty" player in the past and has been suspended on more than one occasion for questionable hits and slashes. He most recently was suspended 10 games by the NHL for a vicious slash on Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perrault.
In all Carcillo has scored 44 goals and 48 assists for 92 points and racked up 1179 PIMS for a career thus far.
