Hawks’ HC Colliton puts his captain Toews to shame with statement on Quenneville
That’s leadership!

That’s leadership. A lot has taken place in Chicago and Blackhawks head coach Jeremy Colliton has to deal with it, despite the fact that he was not around when the team allowed back in 2010 then-video coach Brad Aldrich to remain on staff for nearly a month after the team was made aware of his sexual assault on Kyle Beach. The team included Aldrich in its Stanley Cup celebrations that offseason, even inviting him to a team party where Beach was also present.
So much backlash was unleashed on the Hawks, and on many members of the club, including captain Jonathan Toews. Former head coach in Chicago, Joel Quenneville resigned from his position as head coach of the Florida Panthers on Thursday after he met with Gary Bettman. Stan Bowman resigned from his position as general manager of both the Blackhawks and United States men’s Olympic hockey team back on Tuesday, while Al MacIsaac, the only other member of the group listed still with the Blackhawks, was also dismissed.
Toews claims he didn’t hear about the assault until training camp the next year. During that training camp, according to the report, Beach said multiple players asked him if he “missed his boyfriend, Brad.” Toews is not mentioned in the report’s findings. Beach and other former players, like Brent Sopel and Nick Boynton, said everyone in the dressing room knew about the assault. And yet, no one said anything. As a captain, Toews is now in hot water for acting like a sheep, and a coward.
On Friday, Colliton made his captain look even worse when he had the right answer when asked about Quenneville and Bowman.
That’s because Toews reacted a PR nightmare for the Hawks, especially when he praised his former GM, Stan Bowman, saying he and MacIssac are good men…
While some could be quick to forgive because Toews was just 22 at the time, let me remind you something: Beach was just 20! During the 2010 Hawks’ Stanley Cup run, you could hear everyone stated that Toews was mature and a remarkable leader.
So much for that… and clearly on Friday, Colliton, who also has to deal with a winless record since the start of the season, showed his captain how to lead.
