This decision does not come as a major shock to anyone, but with that said it's rare to see a head coach who has had so much success lose his job.

The Anaheim Ducks have announced that they have relieved head coach Bruce Boudreau of his duties effective immediately after the Ducks suffered a disappointing first round exit, and fourth consecutive Game 7 loss under Boudreau's leadership.

Boudreau's track record in the regular season is beyond reproach, but with that said his team entered the postseason as a favorite to win the Cup on several occasions and Boudreau failed to advance past the first round all but once, and never managed to reach the Stanley Cup Final with the Ducks.

There's no doubt that Boudreau's lack of postseason success in Anaheim is the reason for this decision, and it's very similar to how he was ushered out of Washington as head coach, where that team also struggled to live up to expectations in the playoffs.

However with an incredible record of 208-104-40 has head coach of the Ducks, there's no doubt he will soon find himself behind another NHL bench should he desire the position.
