Anderson fought on and off the ice during the Playoffs.

The Ottawa Senators goaltender learned in late October that his wife, Nicholle Anderson, had been diagnosed with cancer. Since then he’s done a tremendous job of juggling his commitments to both his family and his teammates, all while facing tremendous emotional pressure. He has been in and out of the Sens lineup all year so that he could be by his wife’s side while she suffered through cancer treatment.

At 35-years-old and the heartbreaking situation he’s in, Anderson knows he might not have the chance to make such a deep run in the playoffs. Following the elimination he had heartbreaking comments when you know all he went through during the season. Asked on how he will remember the Senators run season:

Love. Just the love that this team had, from the start, from the second I left the team.

It was coming straight from the heart and you could feel he had other things than hockey in mind when he dropped these comments.
