Bringing in the big guns after two disastrous tournaments for Canada.
This just in, Hockey Canada has announced that the Hunter brothers will be taking over the country's World Junior program.
Dale Hunter (London Knights) will take on the head coaching position, with brother Mark Hunter (London Knights) taking over the general manager position.
“The first order of business for myself and Scott was to find the best coach possible to lead our National Junior Team,” said Hockey Canada executive Alan Millar. “Dale’s résumé speaks for itself: three Memorial Cups, three OHL Coach of the Year awards and two international gold medals. His passion for this program runs deep, and we feel he is the best candidate to lead us to a gold medal in Minnesota.”
The Hunters are obviously very well respected in the hockey world, especially in Canadian junior hockey. The London Knights are arguably the most successful and well respected franchise in junior hockey history. They return to Hockey Canada at an extremely critical time. The organization has been reeling from both on-ice and off-ice losses in recent years and their World Junior team has failed to earn a medal in back to back tournaments.
Head coach Dave Cameron was an absolute nightmare in the 2025 World Juniors and the team's roster selection was dubious, to say the least. Here's hoping that the Hunter brothers can bring some accountability and some bite back to Hockey Canada.
