The International Ice Hockey Federation is once again hosting the World Championship of hockey and as per usual the nation of Canada is expected to feature prominently in the tournament. As the National Hockey Leagues Stanley Cup playoffs are still ongoing there are often a number of late additions to the rosters in this tournament, and this year has been no exception with some of the late comers actually now forming part of Canada's leadership group.

On Saturday, Hockey Canada unveiled their leadership group for the tournament and that includes newly named captain John Tavares of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Tavares serves as the captain of his NHL team and therefore feels like a natural fit to fill in as a leader for Canada at the World Championship.

Tavares will be joined by a crew of fellow NHL players in Canada's leadership group for the tournament with Andrew Mangiapane of the Calgary Flames, Colton Parayko of the St. Louis Blues and Damon Severson of the Columbus Blue Jackets all named to the leadership group alongside Tavares. Tavares will of course wear the "C" while Mangiapane, Parayko and Severson will all be sporting an "A" on their jersey for the tournament.
