Hockey Canada has been absolutely ROCKED by sexual assault allegations this offseason.

TSN's Rick Westhead has been at the forefront of the reporting on these allegations, first breaking news that members of the 2018 World Juniors Canadian squad have been implicated in sexual allegations and, more recently, breaking news that 8 members of the 2003 World Juniors Canadian roster have been accused of gang raping a "non-responsive" woman. These allegations have prompted both internal investigations and police investigations by authorities in both Buffalo, NY and Halifax, NS.

Today, Westhead reports that an additional investigation has been opened by Quebec City police after allegations against members of the QMJHL's Gatineau Olympiques in 2014.

More from Westhead:

QMJHL chief marketing officer Karl Jahnke has issued a statement on the investigation saying, "We are aware that the police are looking to review their investigation into the matter and we will offer our complete cooperation throughout the process."

The woman, who initially filed charges back in 2015, alleges that three members of the team held her down and assaulted her against her will, despite crying and protesting. "They held me so that I wouldn't move. They were three at that time on me. I was scared, I was crying,” she states.

The victim saidshe was told by police to "let go of the hockey world" back in 2015 when she filed charges. In addition to being assaulted, she alleges that Olympiques players told her that her alleged assault in January 2014 was an “initiation.”
She also said that she received harassing text messages from players, she attempted suicide and was told by police told that an investigation would be too costly and lengthy.

“From start to finish, they didn't take me seriously. They thought I made this whole thing up. They told me it was going to be expensive and it was going to take time. They told me to let go of the hockey world, but that has no relation. It could have happened to me with any style of guy."

Talk about a systemic problem...

Not only are the players brushing off these allegations, but it appears that the police are as well. Or, at least they did when they first came to light back in 2015.
