It is a bittersweet night for a lot of Canadian hockey fans.

Tonight marks the end of an era for many Canadian hockey fans as legendary voice of hockey Bob Cole will be involved in his final broadcast when he calls the Saturday night game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens. It has been known for some time now that Cole will be closing the final chapter in his career as the voice of hockey in Canada this season but that has not eased the blow for many fans who have spent their entire lives with Cole being the voice of the sport.

That being said those fans can rest easy knowing that this is not only what Cole feels is right at this stage of his career, but also in the knowledge that Cole has no doubt inspired an entire new generation of color commentator. In a moving tribute produced by the Hockey Night in Canada crew we got to take a look back at Cole's historic hockey career all while the man himself was along for the ride and providing little bits of narration on top of the story itself. In one of those little bits of narration Cole reveals that he himself was inspired by another color commentator so hopefully someone will follow in his footsteps, in more ways than one.

All in all though this is a must see tribute for any hockey fan that has been a long time fans of Cole's voice and the way he calls the game, even though it largely covers material that those long time fans will already know or will already have seen. Hopefully Cole has a great call tonight during the final game of his broadcast career, and hopefully another iconic voice in the making will take his place when he does vacate it.
