Huge collision between Bennett and Skinner, leading to absolute chaos on the ice!
Sam Bennett injuring the opponent’s starting goalie… Where have I heard that one before? But the Oilers made him pay. Watch it all below:
It felt like a matter of time before I was going to write this in the Stanley Cup Final : Stuart Skinner is down after Sam Bennett ran into him.
The Edmonton Oilers goalie was down after the collision and, of course, chaos ensued with everyone wanting to fight Bennett for his antics.
Edmonton’s trainer came out to check on the netminder, while Bennett was sent to the penalty box for goalie interference.
The crowd was incensed.
However, Bennett did get pushed and wasn’t, maybe this time, trying to injure a goalie.
And captain Connor McDavid wanted to make sure he was going to make Bennett and the Florida Panthers pay. After Bennett tried to break Skinner’s ankles, McDavid actually did break Aaron Ekblad’s on the go-ahead goal.
The crowd was ecstatic.
I mean, this game. Everything. Is. Happening.
It started with the Panthers getting the early lead thanks to Bennett. On an early power-play, 2:07 in the first period, Bennett scored his playoff-leading 13th goal — 12 of which have come on the road.
Evander Kane, who was in the penalty box during Bennett’s tally, made amends moment later and tied the game at 1-1 with a blast from the left circle.
The crowd quickly forgot about Bennett’s controversial play when the Oilers got the lead in the game. Defenseman Evan Bouchard made it 2-1 after his initial shot blocked right back to him and he was not going to miss a second time.
Some incredible passing by the Panthers allowed Seth Jones to find the back of the net, and tied the game at 2-2.
And then, all Hell broke loose. Bennett collided with Skinner, McDavid gave the Oilers the lead and that’s just the first period.
Blood boiling between both teams right now, make sure you’re watching the rest of the game.
The Oilers took the 1-0 lead in the series after a 4-3 ovetime win over the Cats on Wednesday night.
