Huge controversial overturned goal in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final!
See it all here:
This has to be the biggest offside challenge of the entire 2023-24 season. At the start of the second period of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers took their lead to 2-0, until the Florida Panthers cut it back at one.
Or so they thought.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch called the goal for offside, and the play went under review.
After a lengthy review of the Panthers’ entry into the zone, the officials determine that the play was offside and the goal was overturned.
Panthers head coach Paul Maurice could not believe it and started swearing at the referees and linesmen for their call on the play. He was furious when the no-goal call was made at center ice while the local fanbase in Edmonton went nuts.
It’s all here below, and believe me, it is trending on social media as we speak:
It is literally a game of inches (or maybe less)...
On social media, insiders, pundits and fans have been arguing about what the call should have been.
Many are adamant that replays should come at full speed and that most time, the calls on the ice should stand.
We are now in the Stanley Cup Final and officials have to get it right.
Hard to say what it was here…
