Huge hint surfaces and leaks Utah’s chosen nickname!
The Utah Hockey Club has reportedly chosen its new nickname and it seems pretty clear on what it is. More below:
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Utah Hockey Club had chosen it’s new nickname, although there has yet to be word on just when we might expect an official announcement from the team itself.
However, some digging was done by many pundits and KSL Sports has come to find out that “according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Uyte LLC (the same organization that originally filed for all the Utah Hockey Club names) has applied for and been granted an extension for the Utah Mammoth nickname as well a Utah Hockey Club name.
“What’s significant about the extension for Mammoth, is that only a blank Utah Hockey Club name has received the same extension. Meanwhile, Outlaws will not require an extension until April.”
This would of course appear to be pointing the finger directly at Mammoth as the most likely candidate for the team’s new nickname, but it is important to remember that this is merely a clue for now. But you have to admit that with less and less options left on the table, we are either going to cheer for the Mammoth next season, or keep rooting for the Hockey Club.
Would you be happy with the decision if Mammoth turned out to be the team’s new name?
Fans were disappointed when they found out that Yeti was no longer an option due to a trademark because of the United States Patent and Trademark Office rejected that suggestion due to the “likelihood of confusion."
