Great news for Chris Tanev who was stretchered off the ice last weekend.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been given a welcomed sign on Saturday morning.
The Leafs were left stunned last weekend when veteran defenseman Chris Tanev was carried off the ice on a stretcher during a game between the aforementioned Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers. Tanev was involved in a seemingly innocent collision with Flyers star forward Matvei Michkov, an innocent-looking collision that left Tanev laying motionless on the ice for several long moments.
Tanev would end up spending the night in a Philadelphia hospital before being released the next morning and traveling back to Toronto, but understandably he has yet to return to the ice since the scary looking injury.
On Saturday however, Tanev hit the ice for the first time since he suffered the injury and although he was limited in his activities it was a great sign for both the player and the team as a whole. Tanev is likely still some time away from being able to return to play after such a scary incident, but his return is already having a positive impact on his teammates.
Tanev's fellow blue liner Brandon Carlo was asked about the return of Tanev after the scary incident last weekend and he was clearly thrilled at the news.
"Bright eyed and bushy tailed," said Carlo.
Hopefully this trend continues for Tanev going forward.
