Forward Jordan Eberle might have been linked to his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, in recent rumours, but on Trade Deadline Day on Friday, Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek reported that talks with the Seattle Kraken have resumed on a contract extension.

“Jordan Eberle and Seattle have resumed contract talks. Optimism that it could get done.”

Moments later, it was confirmed that Eberle was staying put in Seattle, signing a two-year contract at $4.75M. The deal includes a full no-trade clause.

There was a sense that if the Kraken and general manager Ron Francis could not get Eberle under contract prior to the 3ET pm deadline, the forward would be shipped out of Seattle. Eberle, an original expansion pick by the Kraken, is playing the final year of his current deal and is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. A 16-team no-trade list is included in his contract at the moment.

However a new contract is in place, after it was first reported earlier this week that tension has risen on term. The agreement has now a done deal.

Eberle, whose preference was always to stay with the Kraken, has 14 goals and 37 points in 58 games this season.
Edmonton was quickly linked in trade chatter to Eberle, who was drafted by the Oilers in 2008. He spent seven seasons with the club, scoring 165 goals and 382 points in 507 games, before being traded to the New York Islanders in the summer of 2017.

Earlier this week, Eberle’s teammate Alex Wennberg was moved to the New York Rangers.
