Hurricanes call out a fan after he says they should intentionally injure Isles players

No place for this in hockey. Good on the Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes will take to the ice tomorrow night at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina with a chance to take a three game series lead against the New York Islanders. The problem is, they’ll be down two significant players with Trevor van Riemsdyk and Petr Mrazek on the shelf due to injury.

In case you missed it, van Riemsdyk was absolutely RAILROADED by Isles forward Cal Clutterbuck on the opening shift of Game 2.

This prompted one Hurricanes fan to go on the offensive on Twitter, claiming that the Hurricanes should re-pay the favour and take out one of the Islanders’ top players. The Hurricanes though, weren’t having any of it.

Check it out:

Smart move, Canes. It’s time to stomp this kind of nonsense out of the game. Play fast, play hard but NEVER root for an injury. Injuries are part of the game, but you never wish ill upon your opponent like this because karma has a way of getting you in the end. Smart move by the Hurricanes not to anger the Hockey Gods.
