Hurricanes stun the Capitals late in the 3rd period to win Game 5
The 'Canes are heading to the Eastern Conference Final!

Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov has just stunned the crowd at Capital One Arena with a late goal to win Game 5 and eliminate the Washington Capitals from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With the game tied 1-1 and with overtime just 1:59 away, Svechnikov put a squeaker of a goal past Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson.
From there the Capitals were in full desperation mode and forced to pull Thompson for the extra attacker. That's when Seth Jarvis sealed the deal for the 'Canes:
And just like that the Capitals' historic season comes to an end and the Hurricanes march on to the Eastern Conference Final. They'll now face the winner of Toronto and Florida, starting next week.
