While the news was widely reported yesterday, unrestricted free-agent forward David Desharnais finally put pen to paper on a deal with the New York Rangers this morning, making things official.

The deal is a one-year, $1 million deal and provides the Rangers with a bit of depth for their third and fourth lines. Desharnais, a 30 year-old centerman, could be the team’s perfect replacement for Oscar Lindberg who was lost to Vegas as part of the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.

In 49 games last season split between the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers, Desharnais managed six goals 14 points.
