Igor Larionov named head coach of legendary team
The Professor is back, baby!
This just in, legendary KHL team SKA St. Petersburg have hired Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov as their new head coach.
Larionov was recently fired by Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod after a 1st round loss in the Gagarin Cup Playoffs. Larionov was with Torpedo for three seasons and replaces controversial former St. Petersburg coach Roman Rotenburg. Rotenburg was fired after a dreadful 7th place finish this past season. The son of billionaire Boris Rotenburg, the coach was unable to deliver success for St. Petersburg despite having the highest salary in the KHL.
Now, the legendary team turns to Larionov to right the ship.
