The New York Rangers just barely managed to secure a win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday after a complete second period collapse saw the Flyers score 4 goals inside of the 20 minute frame.

Following the conclusion of what would eventually prove to be a 5-4 win for the Rangers, there were questions from reporters about what led to such an implosion during the game's middle frame. While there were no doubt a number of contributing factors, Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin was hearing none of that and pointed the finger of blame at one player and one player alone.

"We went the second period without a goalie," said Shesterkin, laying all of the blame at the feet of his own play.

Shesterkin seemed very genuine in the self-reflection of his play in the second period, saying that the goals were ones he should have stopped and making it clear he would be making it up to his teammates later in the day.

"They were easy goals," said Shesterkin. "I was upset, but I just tried to come back and give us a chance to win. We played so well in the offensive zone today. I owe dinner for everyone."

Despite his struggles in the second period, Shesterkin finished the game with 28 saves against 32 shots for a .875 save percentage. More importantly however he shut the door in the shootout, securing the all important second point for his team.
