Goaltender Ilya Samsonov has made the most of his first season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in what was seen as a shrewd signing by general manager Kyle Dubas. With a 24-9-3 record combined with a 2.46 goals against average and .914 save percentage with three shutouts, Samsonov may be the one that the Leafs look to between the pipes when they begin what is an absolutely crucial postseason opening round next month.
In the meantime, he's got some great personal news to share. Samsonov, who has missed the last few games, posted to Instagram that his wife Maria has given birth to a healthy baby:
While the gender and name of the newborn child has yet to be revealed, we're certainly happy for the Samsonov family on the newest addition to Leafs Nation!
