Incredible Matthews streak comes to an end last night

For the first time in his career, Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews failed to record a shot in an NHL game. The 20-year-old sniper finished last night’s 4-1 victory over the Calgary Flames with a big fat goose egg in the shot column, but didn’t seem too concerned with matter.

All told it's a record of 109 games for Matthews, including playoffs. For what it’s worth, Matthews didn’t seem to be in sync with linemates Connor Brown and Zach Hyman all night. While it may be concerning to some Leafs fans, they can take solace in the fact that the team’s other offensive lines were flying for most of the evening.

Matthews will get a chance to start a new streak tomorrow night as they take on the Edmonton Oilers in a battle against fellow superstar Connor McDavid
