Incredibly classy gesture from Alex Ovechkin after the All-Star Game.

Ovechkin goes above and beyond.

On Saturday during the National Hockey League's All-Star Game, Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin looked both animated and motivated as he tried to will the Metropolitan division to a win, but unfortunately fell short of his goal.

There was no question that Ovechkin showed up for work on Saturday and did his job to entertain the fans that had come from far and wide to witness him and other NHL stars showcase their skills, but his performance off the ice following the game may have rivaled his performance on the ice.

Following the conclusion of the All-Star Game players like Ovechkin meet with the media and answer your usual battery of questions, but for one Washington-based reporter this was no ordinary All-Star Game. Samantha Pell of the Washington post announced on Tuesday that the All-Star Game would be her final day as a beat reporter covering the Capitals, no doubt making this a pretty heavy moment for her during what was to be her final interview with Ovechkin.

Much to his credit, Ovechkin had already taken note of the situation and kindly asked Pell if this was indeed her final interview, which she confirmed.

The acknowledgement from Ovechkin to a reporter that covered his team for many years was a kind gesture in it's own right, but Ovechkin would go even further in a great show of class, giving Pell about as good of a send off as any hockey reporter could ask for.
