INJURY ALERT: One Key player out due to injury, confirmed Cassidy.

Heavy loss down the last stretch of the season!

Boston Bruins interim head coach Bruce Cassidy announced this morning that Frank Vatrano is out day-to-day with an injury. Taking his spot on the team’s third line alongside Ryan Spooner and Jimmy Hayes will be Matt Beleskey for today’s game against the Dallas Stars.

The hometown Vatrano, a native of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts has had an inconsistent season thus far, but has managed a respectable 10 goals and 18 points in 42 games. While his statistics this season have been an improvement on his rookie campaign in 2015-16, the Bruins were hoping for more offence from the talented pivot. Coming up through the U.S. National Development Team, the NCAA and the AHL, Vatrano has been a high octane offensive threat at every level of play, but has yet to translate his talent into big numbers at the NHL level. He’s often been a defensive liability as well and currently sports a -3 plus/minus rating.

It’s unclear exactly when Vatrano will return to the Bruins’ lineup, but it should go without saying that the Bruins’ playoff hopes look a lot brighter if he can start filling the net when he returns
