Team Canada will be down a man when they hit the Olympic ice on Sunday.
Injuries are already starting to play a factor for the Canadians at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
On Saturday, Team Canada officially confirmed that Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey would be unable to participate in Sunday's game as a result of an injury. It is unclear what Morrissey is currently dealing with but what we do know is that he sustained the injury during Canada's opening game of the tournament, a preliminary round matchup against the Czechia.
The news regarding Morrissey doesn't sound particularly great either with Team Canada announcing that Morrissey has not been ruled out of the tournament as of yet. That is of course a positive sign but if the injury is serious enough that the possibility is even being considered, that could mean bad news for Morrissey's chances of making it back to being healthy enough to play in such a short time frame.
The Canadian coaching staff made a significant roster swap between the first and second games of the tournament, making Florida Panthers star forward Brad Marchand a healthy scratch in order to give Carolina Hurricanes star forward Seth Jarvis a chance to play on the international stage.
Canada is set to take on France in what will be one of the final preliminary games of the tournament on Sunday, no word yet on any additional lineup changes.
