A familiar face back at practice this morning

Minnesota Wild left winger Jason Zucker will miss his second straight game with an undisclosed lower-body injury when his team takes on the red hot Carolina Hurricanes tonight at Xcel Energy Center. While he has resumed skating, he’s still not 100% ready to play.

The 25-year old Zucker has experienced a breakout campaign this season for the Wild putting up 21 goals and 46 points in 77 games. He’s been a staple of the team’s second line playing alongside Mikael Granlund and Mikko Koivu for most of the season where he has provided the Wild with speed and scoring punch.

The Wild have curbed the free-fall that they appeared to be in late last month, but are still limping into this year’s post-season having gone 3-5-2 in their last 10. Where they were once considered a threat to claim the Central Division, they’re now 7 points back of Chicago but still firmly in a playoff position.

It’s unclear how long Zucker will be out of the lineup, but with the playoffs quickly approaching Wild fans are hoping that he can return sooner rather than later. Assistant captain Zach Parise returned to the lineup last week after it appeared he may be out long-term, so here’s hoping that Zucker can recover just as quickly.
