Insider calls it a season regarding star defenseman dealing with concussion.

Florida Panthers star defenseman Aaron Ekblad received a dirty hit to the head, offered with regards by Gabriel Dumont. The sequence was followed by intense brawling, Dumont being attacked on many fronts.

Since then, Ekblad is out of the play due concussion. It’s not the first time that Ekblad is suffering from concussion and insiders start to believe the Florida Panthers should take this case seriously and be very careful with their star player.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman is one among other insiders that believe the Florida Panthers should announce Ekblad season is compromised. Here’s Friedman's full statement :

Florida head coach Tom Rowe said Aaron Ekblad is out 7–10 days with a concussion. We know he had one last season after a hit from Matt Hendricks. We know he had to leave the World Cup early after a bout with whiplash. Whatever the time frame, the organization needs to think about shutting Ekblad down for the season. Too much at stake, on and off the ice."

Aaron Ekblad played 67 games this year. He scored 10 goals and registered 11 assists for a total of 21 points. Ekblad is a former first-choice overall of the 2014 NHL entry draft.
