Bad news for Toronto Maple Leafs fans: newly-signed goaltender Frederik Andersen left the ice after colliding with his teammate during Denmark’s Olympic qualifier against Slovenia, reports The Score.

Acquired in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks, Andersen was the shoe-in favourite to become the team’s long-awaited number 1 goalie. He was signed to a 5-year deal worth $25 million, although the severity of his injury has yet to be revealed.

Thus, it’s impossible to predict as of now whether he will feature at the start of the regular season or if he’ll get the nod at this month’s World Cup of Hockey.
