Lingering injury might result in a long-term absence

An early report from Pittsburgh Penguins announced terrible news this morning.

Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed the news this morning. “Coach Sullivan: ‘Geno will not be available for tonight. He has been dealing with an upper-body injury for a while. We will know more soon.’

Gino’s lingering injury might result in a long-term absence.

Evgeni Malkin played 62 games this year. He scored 33 goals and registered 39 assists for a total of 72 points so far. Geno is currently the 5th offensive leaders for the points total and the 4th best goal sorer.

Sullivan said the Pens will know more about Malkin’s status in the next 24 hours. Could not say if the injury is long-term. By doing so, coach Sullivan opened the door to a long-term injury which could be a very bad news for the Penguins as they are heading to the last stretch of the season.
