Injury Report: Sam Bennett is out for the rest of the season
Brutal news for the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
This just in from Florida Panthers insider Colby Guy, Panthers forward Sam Bennett is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with an upper body injury.
Thankfully though, it appears that Bennett will be ready for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in approximately two weeks.
The 28 year old pending unrestricted free agent has 25 goals and a career high 50 points in 74 games with the Panthers this season. His $4.425 million annual contract is set to expire this upcoming offseason and he's set to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NHL career. It took awhile, but the former 4th overall pick (2014, Calgary Flames) has finally found his niche in the NHL thanks to a good fit in Florida. I can't see him leaving for greener pastures but... money talks.
