Injury Report: Timeline seems to be set for Kris Letang!

It’s not exactly breaking news that the Pittsburgh Penguins have been bitten by the injury bug this season, but it appears that the defending Stanley Cup champions may finally be healing up just in time for the playoffs.

The Pens have lost more man-games to injury than any other NHL team this season with superstars like Sidney CrosbyEvgeni Malkin and Kris Letang all missing significant time. Add role players like Ron HainseyTrevor DaleyOlli MaattaJake Guentzel and Conor Sheary to that list and it’s incredible that the Penguins are not only still in the hunt, but are still a threat to win their division and capture their second President’s Trophy in team history.

Out of all the injured Penguins, perhaps none is more important to his team than Kris Letang. He’s been out of the lineup since February with the always mysterious “upper-body injury.” Given Letang’s injury history (he suffered a stroke in 2014) the Penguins have taken their time with his most recent injury. He’s been rehabbing and skating with fellow injured defenseman Olli Maatta with no timetable for his return, but the speculation out of Pittsburgh is that he’ll get into the lineup before the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
