Injury Report: Veteran Forward Placed on Injured Reserve
Keystone Press

There's no denying that the Detroit Red Wings have had their fair share of injury woes during the "Farewell Season at the Joe".

Their players, along with their goaltenders, have been filling the infirmary for quite some time, and you can now add veteran forward and tough guy Steve Ott's name to that winding list.

Initially, Ott was believed to have been nothing more than a healthy scratch for the past week. His last game came on January 12th against the Dallas Stars.

Earlier, it was reported that Ott has been suffering from a shoulder injury, and that he is going to be placed on the injured reserve.

To date, there is no specific timeline for the forward's return, and the severity of his injury remains to be confirmed. Strangely, this ailment was kept under wraps for a few days, perhaps due to the fact that Ott was in fact practicing with his teammates all along.

Through 37 games, the 34-year-old posted two goals and four points while boasting a minus-7 rating and 56 penalty minutes.
