Nicklas Backstrom will be ready in time for camp, team officials said on Monday, as reported by NHL.com. The high skilled center man had arthroscopic hip surgery at the end of May.

His recovery is going so well, he started to skate already. General manager, Brian MacLellan said that it was encouraging to see Backstroke skating that early in his recovering process.

"I heard he started skating just recently, so that's a good sign,"

The Caps have also Brooks Opik on their recovery watch. MacLellan said that Orpik took the right decision when choosing to go under the knife, instead of having to manage it.

"I think he's had an issue with the wrist and he's managed it and it hasn't really affected his play. He's decided, I just don't want to manage it, I want to get it back to 100 percent. So when he starts the season he'd be 100 percent healthy."
