The Sharks continue to insist that Tomas Hertl is day to day, but it's starting to sound like a report last week from the Czech media that the injury was in fact a season ending knee injury may have been accurate.

According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle the Sharks via head coach Peter DeBoer have once again ruled out Tomas Hertl for what is a critical Game 5 for the Sharks who are facing elimination. Under the circumstances the injury to Hertl must be severe to keep him out of such a pivotal game.

The Sharks are struggling to score against the Penguins, despite many pundits feeling the Penguins defense would be a weakness, and the absence of a center who recorded 6 goals and 5 helpers in this postseason is a devastating blow to San Jose tonight.
