Insane amount of pressure lands on Hawks’ Patrick Kane

I don’t think that’s fair…

The Chicago Blackhawks are trying their best to improve their 2-3-2 start to the current campaign as we have to admit we couldn’t expect them to be atop their division with the team missing its captain Jonathan Toews, rookie Kirby Dach and without a true backbone in net.

You have to admit, it could be worse.

Unfortunately on Tuesday night, the Hawks couldn’t keep their winning streak going, losing in overtime to the Nashville Predators, and it feels like fans quickly forgot how Patrick Kane can’t do everything to save his club every single night…

Fans started pointing out on social media that Kane did not take a shot on goal, he did not miss a shot and he did not have one blocked - a rare statistic in his NHL career. According to team insider Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun Times, this is just the seventh time in 980 career games in which Kane did not record a shot attempt.

Fans were quick to comment that this cannot happen when all this offensive firepower is out, however, they need to take some pressure off of Kane’s shoulders.

The veteran star forward has put on a brave face ever since the rebuild was announced in Chicago and then when his buddy and captain Toews announced he was dealing with an illness that prevented him from taking part in the 2021 season.

Last week, Kane remained confident when asked about the Hawks’ season hopes,  making it sound like Chicago had a chance at contending for the playoffs and Stanley Cup.

“We’re more just thinking about winning a hockey game and try to keep getting better here. The goal in here is to make the playoffs and see what happens after that. I don’t think that’s changed," Kane said to the Sun-Times.

You have to admire him for that and understand that some night will be off. And we bet in tonight’s rematch against the Predators, he will be back to true form.
