Inside the hilarious rumor that Tate McRae is an insider for Hockey Canada

Have you ever heard the term 'Puck Bunny' before?

It's a term of... we'll say endearment... for young women who are fond of young men who play the sport of hockey. Think of like the term 'Groupie' but for NHLers instead of rock stars.

Anyways, I would never use that term to describe anyone because it's 2025 and I'm not about to shame someone for their sexual choices.

Incidentally, pop superstar Tate McRae has been seen in paparazzi photos with injured New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes. The couple are reportedly dating and have been seen canoodling together away from cameras. From 2021 until 2023 she was in a relationship with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Cole Sillinger.

Just sayin'... the girl has a type.

Normally, I wouldn't give much of a rip about an NHL player's dating life, but the boys on Spittin' Chiclets put forward a conspiracy theory on McRae and Hughes that's too good not to share.

McRae, if you didn't know is a born and bred Canadian from Calgary, Alberta. Hughes, of course, is an American and is expected to be a big part of Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The theory, according to Paul 'BizNasty' Bissonnette, is that McRae is actually a mole working on the inside and feeding information about Hughes and Team USA back to Hockey Canada's brass in Calgary.

"I think she could be a potential mole for Team Canada. This is my theory: They start dating, the Olympics come around, it's a huge story, she's in attendance and the whole world's watching," Bissonnette says. "And then she picks a fight with him on the Gold Medal Game day with Canada and Hughes is off his game."

"And then if Canada wins, she's out there with Celebrini at center ice," followed up co-host Ryan Whitney. "USA Hockey, I don't know how we recover from this."

Hush... hush, boys.
