Insider Report: Former 2nd overall draft pick officially on the trade block
Keystone Press

According to a report from Sportsnet analyst and NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Buffalo Sabres youngster Sam Reinhart could be on the move.

Friedman made an appearance on the NHL Network earlier this week and brought up Reinhart’s name as a possible trade chip for the Sabres saying, “over the weekend, I started to hear the name Sam Reinhart.”

Friedman admitted however that a trade isn’t likely to occur right away, but wouldn’t rule out something if things continue to go bad for the team.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if his name starts popping up maybe later in the year if things don’t solidify.”

So, who might be in the market for the 21-year-old former 2nd overall draft pick? How about a rebuilding team like the Detroit Red Wings or Vancouver Canucks? Both teams could use a future #1 center in their lineup and have the veteran pieces to move, especially on the blue line. Would the Sabres have interest in a veteran like Mike Green or Chris Tanev?
