At this point last summer, everyone was wondering if Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid would be ready in time for the season, if he would suffer any setback from his serious leg injury he suffered in the last game of the 2018-19 campaign.

This time around, it’s different. McDavid and his teammates are getting ready to face off against the Chicago Blackhawks in a best of five series and could be looking at a long run to the Stanley Cup if he remains healthy.

And team insider Ryan Rishaug has managed to stay informed on how McDavid has been feeling throughout the pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic and got information from people in the star player’s inner circle, saying that he is in beast mode.

Fans will be excited to see McDavid pumped and ready for the postseason and will hope to see him lead his team to move past the Blackhawks and into the postseason. The Oilers will also benefit from the home advantage seeing that the Western series are taking place in Edmonton, and this could have a huge impact on the captain’s morale and desire to win.

In a conversation on TSN, analyst Craig Button believes the Oilers will win over the Blackhawks and it sounds like McDavid will make sure it happens.

During the pause, McDavid took to social media to post different workout sessions of his training at home. It’s easy to imagine the star forward focused on being in the best shape possible for the start of the tournament and we can’t imagine him being rusty on the ice.

Beast mode, baby!
