Does this surprise you from Lou?
We've got the latest waiver wire report for you from the National Hockey League, and it isn't often that you see a former 1st round draft selection on the list. However, that's indeed the case today.
The New York Islanders have made the decision to waive 24 year old forward Kieffer Bellows, who was their 1st round Draft selection in 2016.
Bellows, who signed a one year contract extension with the Islanders this past summer, was engaged in a battle in training camp along with Oliver Wahlstrom, Nikita Soshnikov and Ross Johnston. And it was Bellows who was designated a healthy scratch recently as Whalstrom made his season debut after recovering from offseason surgery.
Don't be surprised to see him land with the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers to get some more ice time to work on his game.
Bellows has skated in 68 career NHL games, scoring 11 goals with 14 assists.
